While there are a number of new T.V serials that air on different channels each day, but some of the serials like CID, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, etc. are still there that have been ruling the hearts and the TV screens of every Indian house for near about a decade or much long year’s altogether. Here is a list of those popular 8 shows among viewers that would make you realize that you have been associated with them for so long and they have been/were an integral part of your daily routine.

1.CID (since 1998-still running)

The show that started airing since 1998 and now, when it has been approximately two decades, the show is still one of the most favourite crime shows of the Sony entertainment channel. With its continuous re-runs, the show has become an integral part of the viewers lives with its known characters like Daya, Abhijeet, Fredericks, Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Tarika , all of who have a huge fan following due to the commendable role played by each one of them. While the patent dialogues by ACP Pradyuman like ‘Daya Darwaza Tod Do’ and ‘Kuch to gadbad hai’ are the most popular ones that are fun evoking among the viewers till date.

2.F.I.R (since 2006-2015)

The show that became the spotlight on various crimes that hit the headlines and simultaneously evoked situational comedy centering on a Haryanvi female police officer named Chandramukhi Chautala and her three subordinates, Gopinath Gandothra, Mulayam Singh Gulgule and Billu won the hearts and glued the viewers for nine years. Being the best sitcom, the show depicted their lives and the way they solved every case that came to Imaan Chowki.

3.Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (since 2000-2008)

One could definitely not miss out the most successful soap opera that aired for eight long years and became prominent in the history of Indian television, ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ with which the saga of Saas-Bahu tales began and got the producer Ekta Kapoor to earn so much fame and success. The show ranked number one and topped the favorite list of one and all getting the highest TRP. Made in the backdrop of Gujarat’s fictitious Virani family portraying an ideal daughter-in-law Tulsi, played by Smriti Irani (the current Minister of human resource and development) who was married to Mihir Virani, a rich businessman. The show brought the ideal women in her like a perfect wife, daughter-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and grandmother-in-law, solving all the intricate problems within the family.

4.Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii (since 2000-2008)

Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was the second popular serial after Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi bahu this that too aired for eight long years and was again produced by Ekta Kapoor. The television series revolved around a big joint family, the Aggarwal’s, showcasing an ideal daughter-in-law in Parvati and an ideal son in Om. It made viewers to get addicted to viewing the show with the best storylines and apt performance by all the characters of the show.

5.Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma (since 2008 –still running)

The epic comedy show of SAB TV that tickles the viewers without any age bar, being favourite all over the country, has been winning the hearts of millions of people since 9 years. This show too got registered in Limca Book of World Records for the ‘Longest Running Comedy Show’ after completing its 1700th episode. The entire gang of Gokuldham Society, having families which hail from different regions but live together is making people’s lives entertaining and joyful. With the main characters, Daya (Disha Wakani) and Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) who are famous for their unique characteristics and dialogue delivery with the entire cast and crew members hold a great contribution, to let the show successfully complete its 2000 episodes in the recent past.

6.Balika Vadhu(since 2008 –2016)

A one of its kind show based on the theme of child marriages in Rajasthan, Balika Vadhu, rose to popularity due to wonderful performances put up by actresses like Avika Gor and Surekha Sikri. The show was the longest airing show on colors channel that completed more than 2000 episodes before it went off the air on July 31, 2016. It was a bit hit among the viewers just because of the social message it propagated like highlighting the issue of child marriage, widow remarriage, second marriage, the marriage of a rape victim besides addressing girl education and outdated rituals.

7.Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (since 2009- still running)

This popular TV serial that airs on Star Plus is still going so strong, even after going through multiple time leaps that it has successfully completed more than 2000 episodes. Started with the storylines of showcasing couple Akshara and Naitik’s journey as husband and wife, today the serial has headed to Akshara’s daughter Naira to be getting married to Kartik. Though the serial witnessed changing roles many times by various characters, but still this is a favourite prime time show amongst a lot of viewers.

8.Saath Nibhana Saathiya (since 2010- still running)

Another popular show on Star Plus, ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’  that has been airing on screen for about 7 years now. The serial has a storyline revolving around the fictitious Modi family, who live in a big mansion in Rajkot and explores morals and family values of a typical Gujarati joint family. While the show has come across approximately three leaps, the show is still loved by the major chunk of the Indian families.
