Taking a look back into History

Bundi was ruled by Hada Rajputs for 200 years in 1241 until the Surjan Singh surrendered to Akbar in 1533 after that Bundi came under the British rule in the 19th century. In ancient time, the city was named as “Bundi ka nal”, (nal means narrow ways). The city gets its name from king Bundi Meena, who was a prominent local tribe of the Meena tribe but later in 1342 AD, Rao Deva Hara took over the region from Jaita Meena and renamed the city that is now known as Bundi – “Queen of Hadoti”.
