Annually 29 October is observed as “World Stroke Day”. Due to the changing lifestyle, many such lifestyle diseases like “Stroke” are becoming a lot more common among people. Researchers by great scholars have found out that one in six people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime. To alleviate the global burden of stroke and reduce the effect of this complex medical issue, several health organizations are upcoming with campaigns that are actively spreading awareness regarding “Stroke is Treatable”.

There are basically three main types of Stroke as listed by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The fist type is “Ischemic stroke” which is mainly caused by blood clots. While the other type is “Hemorrhagic stroke” which is caused by ruptured blood vessels that cause brain bleeding. While the third and the last type is what is known as “Transient ischemic attack” (TIA) which is basically a mini-stroke, caused by a temporary blood clot.

Most people usually take health for granted. But mind it, that there is no excuse more important than your health. Some major health issues like Stroke won’t wait. Neither should you. Increase your awareness about Strokes as a little effort of yours could be of great help and make a big difference to save someone between recovery, disability, or even death. The common symptoms that help to recognize the signs of Stroke are the unusual drooping of Face or feeling weakness in arms or otherwise having difficulty in speech. Make sure while you witness any such case you call the ambulance quickly and take the patient immediately to the hospital.

Stroke can happen to anyone at any age.  Make sure you adapt a healthy lifestyle. All you should be committed and sincere enough to, should be physically active and exercise regularly. In addition to this make sure you maintain a healthy and a balanced diet which is high in fruits and vegetables and low in salt to maintain your health state and keep blood pressure normal. It’s advisable to quit smoking and alcohol consumption. While in addition to all this, do not forget to go for a regular checkup to know your personal risk factors like blood pressure, diabetes, and blood cholesterol. All this would ensure you to stay fit and minimize the effect of Stoke and remain healthy and sound during your lifetime.
