Just Stay hydrated this summer !

Quenching the thirst in a healthy and tasty way is must as the smoldering summer heat leaves you fatigued, lethargic, dehydrated and thirsty due to massive fluid loss. Some seasonal and delicious ingredients have been combined to arrive at smashing summer drinks that are extremely easy to prepare and stunning on the palate.

Nimbu paani

 

Nimbu paani is very effective in beating the summer heat and is also very easy to make. Take some chilled water and squeeze a lemon in it and you have your nimbu paani. You can add sugar or salt to enhance the taste but keeping it simple will also do your body good. Apart from being a rich source of vitamin C, lemon also has vitamin B, riboflavin and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, magnesium.

Iced Tea

A tall glass of iced tea is also easy to make. Just make your regular black tea and mix it with lemon juice, mint leaves, sugar and any other flavorings of your choice. Citrus flavors also blend well with iced teas.

Ginger Ale

Regular soda or water spiked with ginger and lemon juice along with fresh mint leaves.

Take a blender and blend together cold milk, sugar, coffee powder with ice cubes. You can also spruce it up with a dash of cinnamon powder, nutmeg or even scoops of vanilla ice-cream and chocolate syrup.

Buttermilk or chhaas

Chhaas or buttermilk is another digestive and soothing drink. Have after meals to aid digestion, it is made using curd, water and spices like pepper, salt, ginger, jeera, etc. The reason it is extremely good for summers is because it fights dehydration. It also helps soothe your stomach after eating anything too spicy.

Lassi is a hydrating drink made with curd and sweetened by adding sugar.

Aam panna is a refreshing drink is made using raw mangoes which are a rich source of vitamin C and also contain antioxidants. This drink has a cooling effect on the body and prevents one from a heat stroke and dehydration. It’s healthy and tasty too. Add spices to further enhance the flavor.

Jaljeera

An appetizing summer drink, jaljeera has a sweet and spicy taste to it which makes it so palatable. It is a concoction of cumin seeds, tamarind, black pepper, mint, and water. Many people even add boondi (tiny fried balls) to it. These days, you can buy packaged jaljeera powder from the market and simply mix it with chilled water to make this drink.
