Anjum Chopra celebrates the honorary life membership of the (MCC) Lord’s cricket ground, London

Chairman-Of-Indian-Premier-League-Rajeev-Shukla-And-Anuradha-ShuklaAn evening was hosted by the women cricketer Anjum Chopra  to celebrate the receiving of honorary life membership of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC),Lord’s cricket ground, London. The event took place at Zerruco, The Ashok.

The Marylebone Cricket Club, residents of Lord’s at St John’s Wood in London and lawmakers of the game, awarded Anjum Chopra its honorary life membership, making her the first Indian woman to receive the honour.

Minister-Of-Youth-Affairs-And-Sports-Vijay-GoelOn the occasion Anjum Chopra said “I received the honor and I accept the same with pride. I hope with my MCC honour, I will be able to inspire more girls in India to take up sports as a career.”

Some of the esteemed guests present at the event were minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel, Former Commissioner of Police, Delhi Neeraj Kumar, Union Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Chairman of Indian Premier League, Rajeev Shukla, Yogesh Srivastav Director PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Cricketer Vijay Dahiya, Cricketer Murali Kartik, to name a few.

Anjum’s career spans over six World Cups, two T20 world cup, one World Cup runner-up medal; more than 3,000 international runs; India captaincy; Padma Shri awardee; Arjuna awardee; television pundit; writer and broadcaster.

About the Club –

Cricketer-Murali-Kartik-Atul-Wassan-And-Syed-Saba-KarimMarylebone Cricket Club (MCC) was founded in 1787 is the world’s most active cricket club. The club having around 23,000 members awards some finest cricketers like Vivian Richards, Bishen Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar  to name a few. The club has been recognised as the sole authority on the Laws of Cricket since its foundation and it moved to its current home at Lord’s in 1814. It remains, in the words of a former President, Plum Warner, “a private club with a public function.”

There are 18,000 Full and 5,000 Associate Members of MCC. Those Members own the Ground and all MCC’s assets (the most famous of which is the Ashes Urn), they govern the Club through various committees, and some 2,000 of them represent MCC on the field of play each year.
