8 Quick Tips to Plan a Child’s Nursery

Planning to decorate your baby’s nursery, but not sure where to begin? Here are some easy tips to guide and inspire you.

1. Create a mood board by using your imagination and ideas you gather through internet and magazines. This will help you to put together the theme and choose the right colours.

2. While designing a nursery for your baby, buy a crib which has lockable wheels system.

3. Keep soft accessories like bedding, blankets, pillows and a small soft toy to make the space cosy. If you’d prefer to keep the canvas neutral and then layer in bright pops of pink or blue after your baby is born, colours ranging from white to rich browns give you plenty to work with.

4. Arrange their wardrobe in a proper way.  Organize clothes by their category in the baskets—such as a separate basket for nappies, t-shirts, shorts et al and label them.

5. Install dimmer lighting fixtures, especially if they are located directly over the crib. Buy a small accent lamp for a cosy glow. Make sure to cover electrical outlets and tuck away cords.

6. Anchor down any furniture that could pose a threat and secure rugs to the floor to prevent slips.

7. You should also be wary of potential choking hazards, and be sure that all medicines, ointments, etc. are securely stowed out of baby’s reach.

8. Avoid over-decorating your child’s nursery. Keep it simple, and choose elements that are soothing and nurturing. Select a neutral background, which you can always mix with age- appropriate accessories. This will save your time and money when you need to redo the space as the child grow older.
